Parte Dos De La Fiesta De San Antonio

Part two of the Fiesta San Antonio

So this week went by really fast. Jake worked, but was off by 6:00 PM every night for me to make dinner and then send him right back to his barracks for sleep. It's life for us right now. Can't say I love it, but can't say I'm upset with it, because honestly I'm not even supposed to be here in Texas, but I'm a lucky girl.

Jake and I had a great weekend this week. I picked him up from work on Friday around 6:00 and he came back to Kyle and Whitney's place and got ready, from there we went to downtown San Antonio. Let me just take a second and remind you that San Antonio is the 8th LARGEST city in the US of A, and because this is Fiesta...Everyone is out celebrating...It took us 2 hours to find a stinking parking spot. First, though we had to get money out of an ATM so we could park, and so that meant for me to jump out of our truck and go on the search, I found one eventually and caught back up with Jake. AH! It was so crazy.
Once we got to our parking lot, we walked about 1/2 mile to the market square street where there was a festivity of different types of Mexican foods and drinks and music. It was packed and a little uncomfortable for me, so we decided to head to our original planned spot that was 2 1/2 miles away. Our original plan that we ended up going to was a celebration for all the Germans that came to Texas and helped settle it. They were playing German music, having German dancing, and serving German food. Considering I have more German blood in me than I think I even know (a lady asked me out of the blue about 2 weeks ago if I was German because apparently I look it), I wanted to go and see what it was like. Jake was just kind of tagging along, but he enjoyed himself a lot.
After walking the 2.5 miles we finally made it to the German Gartenfest. It was a lot of fun! It was originally going to cost us 10 dollars to get in, but because they love the military here, we got in for free! I love being in the military. We both ate sauerkraut for the first time, and I had my first Ruben sandwich. Then we had what is called Potato Pancakes, they actually were OK tasting. After we ate, and listened to good music we decided it was time to make the walk back and call it a night for Friday. It was so much fun celebrating!

On Saturday we woke up and had a lovely breakfast then it was off to do more stuff. We got all ready to go and went back to the lovely packed city of San Antonio for more festivities. We parked as soon as we saw an opening and then started walking again (this is going on day two of me walking in flip flops) We were going to go to this old Victorian house, but because of my luck...it had a fire that morning and was currently being renovated when we showed up. Lame huh? So we decided to just head to the Carnival that was another 2 miles away. Jake was totally game with just walking, because he was in nice comfortable tennis shoes, me on the other hand was in so much pain because I had rubbed a blister on my toe that wraps around the thong part of a flip flop and by the time we got to the carnival it had popped and rubbed off, so now I had an open womb on the bottom of my foot....Yeah it killed! I became a big girl though and sucked it up. Jake and I bought wrist bands and went on all the carnival rides (so much fun!) and then we played some games. I won him a minion stuffed animal from Despicable Me and he won me 3 beautiful gold fish (which died by the end of Sunday...). After having fun at the Carnival we decided to have dinner at Chuys again! It took an hour to get out of the city and find it, which by this time it was 10:00 PM, but it was so worth it! I love Chuys.

Sunday we had a great day because Jake invited one of his friends from his team to come to church with us. It was awesome because he kept asking questions. Always a good thing when someone who comes to church asks questions after...Means they didn't fall asleep and they were paying attention! Then it was dinner time and I made a delicious taco soup. Yes mom, it turned out great. Thanks for the recipe. :) Because my husband and my brother and my husbands friends are nerds, we played a game of LOTR Risk. I got my butt kicked, Jake won, and it was a lot of fun! I love playing board games with him because there is no mercy and we get evil. Ha ha!

I love my husband and I am so happy I am here in Texas with him while he goes through Tech school to learn how to protect me and my country. I love what he does and I love who he is. I have no idea how I got lucky enough to have him as my husband, but I did and I'm not taking any moment of our time together for granted.

This quote has been in my head all week!
