Happy Easter Everyone!
I love Easter. I love the feeling of Easter. I love that Easter is centered around Christ and his sacrifice.
We have Christmas to celebrate the birth, but Easter is the celebration of what he came to this world to do for us. He died for each and every one of us and was resurrected so that we can repent of our sins and Live with him again one day. Ah, isn't that a wonderful feeling.
Last year, Jake and I were just barely engaged when Easter weekend came along, so this was our first Easter being married. And it was AWESOME.
The weekend started out on Friday when we went to the movie "Water for Elephants" (Highly recommend reading the book first, or after you watch it). We loved the movie, I read the book a couple weeks ago so I was stoked to see the movie. The movie theater that we went to was a different theater. It was a dinner and a movie theater. We ordered our food before the movie started and it came when the previews were beginning so we could eat while watching the movie. It was so cool! If you ever come to Texas, and want to go to a movie, look up the Alamo Drafthouse. It's so cool. It's the best way to watch a movie.
On Saturday we woke up early and I made a nice little breakfast of bacon and eggs, and we watched conference while eating. We haven't had the chance to watch all of conference because of Jakes schedule, but we are getting there. Jake had work to go to from 12 until 2 so I cleaned and got ready while he was gone. We were planning on going to the temple to do a session, but the schedule for the temple here is really weird! Not like Utah where it's open every day except Monday, and has a session every hour or two hours. Whatever, we'll go this Saturday. If you come to San Antonio, and plan on a temple trip, look up the session hours before hand so you don't get disappointed about the times.
Jake and I decided since we weren't going to the temple, that we would go to the mall and walmart. He wanted to get me a Sunday dress for Easter. We went to all the stores in the mall that I could think of that would have nice modest dresses, but we were out of luck until we reached JC Penneys. They had over 100 dresses and about 30 of them were modest. I was so happy. I tired on about 10 dresses, then Jake made the pick and I got my Sunday dress. It's so cute. Navy blue with white polka dots and a yellow jacket and bow. I love it!
That night we did our Easter baskets because usually we don't have much time on Sundays. I gave Jake a pair of really really nice sunglasses, a security forces hat and shirt, Me. Bean movies, a chocolate bunny, more chocolate, and cookies. He gave me my dress, a cute bunny that is so soft, sugar free candy, and boy meets world season 1 and 2! I love Boy Meets World! After we did our Easter baskets we colored eggs. We didn't have any vineger so the eggs didn't dye all that well, but they were still cute.
Sunday came and Jake left at 6 AM to do his white rope job, and I slept until 11:00 on accident. I wanted to wake up at 7:00, but my body had other plans. Church was at 12:30 and it was wonderful. There were great lessons on Christ and how we should always remember Him. After church, Jake has meetings until 4:00 so I ran home and started cooking. I had ribs, carrots, asparagus, rolls, and cheesy potatoes to get fixed. Jake came home at the perfect time and was able to help with the peeling of everything (I HATE doing that). Dinner was at 6:00 and it turned out great! The carrots were covered in orange juice so it tasted like an orange/carrot. SO good.
Jake and I started to look for apartments in Maryland, just in case the base housing doesn't work out for some reason, and we found a couple that are pretty cute and in our price range. Hopefully we find out soon what is going on and if we will have a home in a month and a half.
Jake and I had a wonderful Easter together. It was the best and it was nice to be alone together for the holiday. I missed my family and Jakes family, but we really needed this. I love being Married!
